Ok........wait? Did I say otherwise? Why are you even thinking about running axe in PvP without Eviscerate?

in PvE you are very rarely only adjacent to only one foe. if you find yourself taking enemies 1v1 instead of 1v3-6 you fail at grouping/pulling.
So you can honestly say that every single time you engaged a group of enemies, you always managed to have the front-liners and back-liners around you?

Please, what other stories do you have?

I don't bother, tbh.
The back-liners have a tendency to clump by themselves, I go and slaughter them with Triple/Cyclone/Whirlwind easy enough.

The enemy physicals just break themselves on layers of defense - TNTF!, SY!, wards, Aegis, and Enfeebling Blood. They become harmless, I blow up the casters, then we pick off the physicals.

Enemy groups tend to get progressively weaker as members die, remember. Killing a group tends to be easier after a death or two.

Add to that you should be using some selective targeting, ie thier monks/rits/eles/mesmer/necros before you go after the paragons/rangers/wars/ect. The AI will kite in hard mode so your chasing down a solo target most of the time so your AoE attacks are wasted.

One of the reasons I kind of look at hardmode as if it's a pseudo PvP.

You need snares, more thoughts into your builds, less thoughts on "enemy be dumb, he go here, I smash" etc.

Being Kited in PvE using all AoE type skills REALLY sucks.

Eviscerate + Axe Rake + Flail = your friend...

distracting blow has saved me so many times in pve. I mostly have to interupt a big aoe spell or something in order to save my stupid henchies. I never leave it out.

Heres my axe build atm:

Distracting blow
Triple chop
Dismember
Executioners
Watch yourself
Shields up
heal sig

While in the past I have almost always had an interupt on my war I have really fallen in love with the speed and efficiency of Mesmer Heros with a couple interupts on thier skill bars.

If you fear to use your mes then concider a Ranger with broad head arrow combined with a war using an IAS you get some extreme interupts.
